The fascia just pops off to give you access to the holding screws. See if it moves forward or backward giving it a better latch to the upper mechanism.

And the older style is a manual latch, where you pull up on the center of wings, and its an acutally handle, not a popper.. That was done in 05... If an adjustment doesn't work, its not unheard of for the popper to go bad.
