I did the same searches a lot before I posted this thread with the same non-results. Since the radio does not show a selection for the CD player now I believe the problem is a setting that introduces the CD player to the radio.
If I would have thought about I could have kept power to the battery cables
while I swapped the battery but unfortunately never crossed my mind I would get burned like this.
I soldiered in a new negative cable to be battery and that took some time to go find the right part for. Yep I did it right and now after some months there is absolutely no corrosion on that terminal. The oem-negative terminal always was really bad with the mixed metal terminal ... a design flaw for sure.
BUT I had the battery disconnected for at least an hour maybe two.
