Re: Check Engine Light
Hey Cruisers....New to the forum. Bikerchick1 is my girlfriend. She has an 06 Limited with an automatic/ no turbo.
She has been having a problem with the engine light coming on. First, she went to Autozone to pull codes. They said it was her cap (had a locking one) so she went back to an OEM cap. Light went out. Fast forward a couple weeks, light comes on again. They tell her to get an air induction/ fuel system cleaning. Big bucks as you all know. I find this forum and find out you can do the same thing by adding a fuel system cleaning product. We could not find BG44 or Redline so we settled with the Lucas Oil additive. Light went out for a day or two then came back on.
Fast forward to today. We trade vehicles so I can troubleshoot it. I learned how to pull codes from this forum. Great info. I do both tests, no codes produced with the odmeter reset test but I got P0456 and P0457 on the on/acc test. P0456, per the code legend on this forum, is a small EVAP system leak. P0457 is no where to be found. Any info on this code will be helpful. I jacked the rear end up and checked the fuel fill vent line from the top (as high as I could get) and back down to the tank. I did find that the end that goes into the tank will slide back and forth a bit in and out of the tank. Possibility ?
I disconnected the neg side of the battery to attempt to get the light to go out with no result.
Soooooo..........Any help would be greatly appreciated before I have to wave the white flag and take it to the Stealer (at $78 an hour labor).
