Re: What's the best MPG can the PT Cruiser get?
I agree, there is a market for basic transportion. The average guy or girl probably could care less what theyre driving. What it looks like or how it performs is immaterial to someone who buys a car the same way they would buy any other appliance, since thats what a car really is to them. But that doesnt make a corolla or camry a 'great car'. Its a means to an end, and while it does its job well thats all it is or will ever be.
But there are american cars that are at least the equal of anything Japanese. Again I hate GM. However, there's no denying that the Chevy Cobalt coupe is a hell of a good value. The high mpg version gets 36 mpg on the highway. The SS version will dust a Civic Si and its a damn sharp looking little car. If only theyd offer awd and a 4 wheel independent suspension it would be easily the equal of the EVO or Sti and it at least offers a coupe bodystyle, which is a MUST for any performance car to have. Lets not forget that the basic, crappiest version of the new camaro has a V-6 which is pushing 300 hp and gets 27 hwy mpg. Yeah, its not as high as any japanese car, but it'll run rings around them and offers rwd and muscle car style. Its a REAL car, something you'd be proud to own. Paying a little more for the car, and giving up a few MPG for that is a done deal in my book.
