Default Re: Interior lighting question

You might have a hard time finding a bulb for this, so here are a few ideas you might try. All of these are theoretical as I have never tried any of them, but my common sense tells me they could be viable if you can't find the bulb you want.

1. Make a colored lens that will sit inside the existing dome. In this instance, you would need to be careful about the heat from the bulb melting the film. One thing that might work would be the plastic transperent films that can be used in inkjet printers to make overhead transparencies.

Use photoshop or some other program to lay rectangles of various shades of green on the film. Cut cut them out, trim them to size to fit them to the dome. Try each one until you find the right glow.

2. You can try painting the bulb.

3. If you feel extra techy, you can rework the wiring in the fixtures to accomodate the LED bulbs you can find at Radio Shack.

Good luck!
