Timming Belt Broke?
Went to pick up my nephew and my 02 PT just did not sound right. When I got to his house I opened the hood and I could hear a little noise that sounded like it was coming from under the valve cover.
After I got him to his friends house I got some clunking sound from the engine. As I was limping it home the engine cut out and would not start. I went back with a code reader and got a camshaft position sensor code.
I am thinking the timing belt broke but why would you get noise before the belt broke? Wouldn't it just stop? What would it take to change out the belt? Would a valve hit a piston?
I just got the car back from the transmission shop a week ago. Cost me 2 grand for a rebuild. I hope I didn't just trash the engine.
