OH!

So the radiator fan was the issue?

I have a 2005 PT, Touring Edition. Started having the same problem last year. It was looked at twice by my mechanic and he couldn't find the problem and is STUMPED!

I have to take the car in for a seperate problem tomorrow anyway so maybe I'll bring up the radiator fan to him?
