Re: Why did you go with the PT?
I got my '04 base model about 4 months ago. I wrecked my wife's Civic when I pulled out of a parking lot and was hit by a car that was in a blind spot as I crossed three lanes of traffic.
We had a set budget and while I really had my heart set on a convertible Mustang, they were just a bit more than what we could pay. After going through everything with the bank to get our financing, the PT was the only car in the price range that I wasn't vehemently opposed to. In fact, I have always thought they were cool little cars.
Like some of the other people who replied, I had ridden in rentals a couple times and being a big over 6 feet tall, leg and head room were all important issues for me.
What sealed the deal for me was a friend who owns a company that uses the PT as their fleet vehicle. He owns 24 of them, so I had a chance to really talk to someone who would know how good or bad they really were.
Based on this experience, I would buy another one, but I think it would have to be an older model. I don't much care for the dash styling and layouts of newer models.
