Mine is an auto, when it shut down I did have the yellow check engine light. My wife, who was in the car when it died said there was nothing funny, just shut down. Car was in park. It hasn't done it again---------YET.
As far as the cool down, I haven't seen it in the owners manual yet,
But in all my years as a fleet mechanic,and everyone I know that ran turbos, it has been common practice to cool the turbo down by letting engine idle to circulate oil through the turbo. Of course not everyone did it, but I never had the time to try to do a "study" on it.
