I'm the president of the PT Cruisers of Silicon Valley...roughly 100 members/60 cars. We have a monthly meet-n-greet at a local ice cream place and usually get 40 cars there (have had 55 at the most). Here are some suggestions for boosting participation in an event:
1. Get some business cards and get a forum going. We use EZboard and it's worked well. Make sure to list the url for your forum on the business cards. Also list your e-mail address if you're comfortable with that.
2. Most papers will run an ad at least once a year of local car clubs and their meeting times/places. Get your venue listed in the paper. Pick up a few goodies here and there and hold a raffle. Offer to donate all proceeds to a local or national charity. This is a sure-fire way to get people there.
3. Pick a dealership or local eatery and have them "sponsor" a PT Cruiser only event. This will get you connections with local PT owners and will draw business to whatever place you hold the event.
Once a few of you get together, word will spread fast. There are enough PTs out there...you should have a nice "PT family" soon!
Good luck!
