I'm pretty sure my 86 Charger Shelby had the Speed Density, as did my 88 Mustang GT. I may be wrong on the years but if I remember right the 89's came with Mass Air. With the mustang, the speed density ran a little richer and adjusted well to things like intakes, headers, etc. Actually better than MAF (according to Muscle Mustangs & FF Magazine) only when adding a supercharger was a conversion needed. (or a new chip installed)
From the articles I've been reading the last few minutes, both work well, both have benefits, and on a turbo motor, a Speed Density system is quite good.
