I'm all for some sort of battery containment. I have had 2 batteries explode on my automobiles. One in a containment box, and one not. Without the box EVERYTHING gets soaked in acid, with, it's a simple matter of getting a new battery. With the heat that collects in our engine compartment I am supprised that the issue of battery explosions has not come up.

(For those of you that are not familiar with this issue, battery acid when heated gives off hydrogen gas, which is very explosive. Even a small ammount is enough to break a battery case and spray acid all over the engine electronics. After an explosion every connection is suspect, every crevice that water and acid can enter is a place for long term mayhem.)
