It is my understanding that a manufacturer can modify an engine family and simply supply data to CARB that the engine mods did not adversely affect emissions. When K&N fitted my car with their new Typhoon intake that is what they did. Now, if the parts do cause substantially more pollution then they need to show CARB that the cats work and air quality is not worsened. The big cost was to get the engine family CARB certified. Now the rub may be that CARB requires a long term warantee on all parts that affect emissions and MOPAR does not offer warantees!!
