I'm certainly no expert on fuel injectors. but I went to the shop and looked at the stock (purple) injectors. It looks to me like the shoulder on the (Gold) plastic pieces were installed to keep the bottom O Ring in place. It is hard to believe that that small thin plastic piece would have much effect on negating heat soaking of the injectors. There would be no transferring to the new injectors, it feels like the plastic pieces are on the old injectors for good. You'd tear um up tryin to remove them. I don't think that solves anything, but it kinda makes sense of what DODGETWEAKER had to say.
