I'm certainly no expert on fuel injectors. but I went to the shop and looked at the stock (purple) injectors. It looks to me like the shoulder on the (Gold) plastic pieces were installed to keep the bottom O Ring in place. It is hard to believe that that small thin plastic piece would have much effect on negating heat soaking of the injectors. There would be no transferring to the new injectors, it feels like the plastic pieces are on the old injectors for good. You'd tear um up tryin to remove them. I don't think that solves anything, but it kinda makes sense of what DODGETWEAKER had to say.
MY TWO CENTS (but not said with much conviction, cause I'm still not sure).[:I]

Nozle caps have been a standard on injectors almost as long as there have been injectors, they thermally protect the sensitive jet area and also protect it from backfire damage etc, along with locating the tip in a precision manner, without metal to metal contact, which would eventually cause poor sealing of the intake plenum. They are almost always a snap on(these may well be bonded), and are asuredly part of an injector re-seal job, when the injectors are removed(just as you would not re-use a gasket, beyond a very short time. If the injectors are pulled new caps and O rings are in order.

I'm not sure what about this could make someone so angry.
I put synthetic oil in my PT, and for the life of me I cannot visualise that it is doing a better job, but I do it because it is the BEST that I can do for my engine. If I can avoid potential problems with the injectors in my car, I will do what I think is the best that I can do.
Rigt now I would ask anyone to find the motivation for anyone to get beligerant over this issue. What motivation could cause this?
