Hey ZZ we must be related to Ed McMann because I haven't won either!!
On a hot day the temp inside my box is MUCH cooler than the engine box and YES What a boost to the torque at the wheel!
My final design uses 3" PVC insulated from the K&N filter to the 2.5" turbo opening. The box is 1/4" plexiglass insulated and sealed on all sides so the pressure created by the scoop makes a HUGE difference![8)]
