you can correct it. the two z shaped brackets that you install on the bottom of the bumper for support are you key elements here. You need to lift up on the bumper and find a spot where the bumper is aligned perfectly....then you mark the spots on the bumper and attach the brackets to those points. There is no gap on mine.
