Turbo timers are a response to a screw-up when manufacturers first introduced turbos. Chrysler was the first (and for a long time, only) maker to use water-cooled bearing housings. The water prevented extreme heat build up, and since then we have learned how to thermal siphon to essentially prevent the need for idling before shut-down. Those turbos without water jackets (including many aftermarket today) are succeptable to bearing damage due to overtemping the oil - but full synthetics are very resistant to this. Full synthetics were brand new when turbos first hit the market in the early eighties, and nobody really knew what to do with them. Technology marches on...
Just a quick comment, if Full Synthetics are so helpful in todays
modern engines, why don't all new engines come with a pan full?
