macster this is getting interesting, both sites i checked didn't give me any fresh thoughts on Fram. But i tell you what,i challenge you to go on the web and type in the search bar Fram complaints and then do the same thing with Wix complaints and let the forum know what you found out.I have enclosed a few i found.
William G. gives us the facts about that great Fram auto parts guarantee:
A short while ago I installed a Fram oil filter on my vehicle. Shortly thereafter I noticed a small amount of oil under my vehicle. It seems the filter had a small pin hole in it because of a factory defect in the outer case. I notified the company, Allied Signal Corporation, which told me to fill out a complaint form and return it to them. Which I did. Then they requested that I send the used filter to them by US Mail. This is impossible because the used filter is now considered hazardous waste. To return the filter using other means is too expensive and far outweighs the cost of the original filter. Any reputable company would have arranged for pickup of the defective part and checked it out. Their tactic is to discourage people from complaining to them or attempting to utilize there (so called) warranty. I still have the defective part just to remind me never to purchase Fram products or ANYTHING manufactured by ALLIED SIGNAL.

I stopped at a local automotive / marine machine shop to discuss - yet
again - composition of the Aqua Drive like drive system that is contemplated
for Mrs. Hudson .

We began swapping stories - somehow the topic of engine oil filters came up
...I told him about the oil filter of the Mercury diesel falling off last
year in France and he showed me a box of cut open Fram filters - and
Mercury filters - which are made by Fram.

The original oil filter had 8 ea of 1/4 in holes in the top of the
filter -- The New filter had 8 ea of 3/16 th inch holes which were blocked
by the check valve beneath reducing their effective size to only 3/32 inch .

One filter had metal flakes blocking the 3/32 inch holes which he
said were the bearings of the engine . He said that they have had several
new 454 engines last only
100 hrs . Fram said they would stand the cost of engine rebuild and
requested that the filters be sent back to them - which he said he could not
do as they were the property of the engine owners - who were contemplating a
class action lawsuit ..

Recalling that Fram threatened suit against the author of the Oil
Filter Study mentioned on the TWL some time ago -- I have no earthy opinion
worth offering - Draw your own conclusions !!

All the Best

I worked at an Autoparts store for about 2.5 years. In that time we sold Motorcraft, AC Delco, Lee and Fram. Guess which brand was the ONLY one we ever had complaints about? FRAM. People would come in saying that their filter collapsed from getting clogged, getting the engine ticking noise, Missing the rubber seal etc. I will NEVER use a Fram filter. I used to when I as a teen but learned my lesson after a VW I has started haveing a strong lifter tap on startup and for about 10 min of running. After a friend recomended swapping the filter the tick was gone! Glad I know better now though. Watch out for the quick change oil places. Some of them use Fram filters that are branded for their chain or brand of oil used.
Now look up Wix complaints on your internet search. And by the way the Malcome Baldridge award is a high ranking award given to all types of companys for making quality products.Look it up and become informed.Evidently you're not even reading some of your own sites that you want people to check on oil filters. But sometimes you just can't make people see the forest for the trees. My last comment about this is you get what you pay for it,you've just been lucky and buying cheap and flimsy made Frams. Please read all i have included in my post and do the search like i said. You will not find a complaint about Wix filters because i have done the research
