Not all BOVs are equal. The BOV (that's what it is called, also known as CBV for compressor bypass valve) on my Eagle Talon is redirected back into the intake, and it's REQUIRED. The reason is because the Talon uses a MAF sensor instead of the typical Chrysler MAP sensor, and it is placed at the beginning of the intake system and not further down (say at the UIP). That is, the air is metered at the intake, and the fuel charge is calculated based on that metered air. If it were vented outside of the intake system, it would result in an over-rich condition, to the point of stalling out sometimes, during shifts and on deceleration.
