I am in the same boat. I bought what I thought was a security/ satelite locator system that turned into a telemetry OBD monitoring system. I don't have to do smog testing, but I MUST be up to snuff on OBD at all times. (I have a grace period to fix anything that doesn't register.)
The State of California is considering going 100% with this system soon. It is an administrative savings, and anything that saves $$ is high on the list.
For those Mopar Performance folks that listen. Without OBD, California will become a foreign country to you. How much do you really want to play with the big boys of aftermarket?
