Default Control Arm Bushing

I had an oil change at a local service center. The mechanic advised me that the lower control arm bushings are distorted and coming out of the metal sleeves. the control arms are an integral part of the front suspension. I arranged for a Chrysler dealer to determine the status of the bushings. They agred that they were defective. Supprisingly Chrysler replaced the entire control arms at no cost since my PT was still under warranty. Apparently the busing is presed in to the control arm and can't be repaired. They did not indicate if the bushing are a chronic problem, but it may be worthwhile to ahve them checked at your next oil change. This is one of those IF YOU DON'T NOTICE IT, THEY AREN'T GOING TO TELL YOU. Extra side benefits include an improved ride, and they did a free front end alignment. Don't wait until it's too late, check them yourself, or have someone check them that has knowledge of the lower control arms. Your costm if YOU have to foot the bill can be upwards of 350.00 to 400.00.....
