Bobs Turbo;
My 04 GT is in the shop for the fifth time for the same problem, (error code P1188)Turbo Overboost. When this happens the car surges at idle and on deceleration. Map sensor and PCM were replaced several times. Then I received Customer Satisfaction Notice From DC #C30:
2003 & 2004 PT Cruisers and various other DC models.
The problem is....
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector seals on your vehicle may be out of place. This could allow water to enter the PCM. Water and resulting corrosion inside of the connector can cause various electrical and drivability concerns.
What DC and your dealer will do....
DC will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect the PCM electrical connector seals and repair any that are found to be out of place. If a connector is corroded, the PCM and affected wire harness will be replaced.
Well I had corrosion and the dealer decided to replace the PCM and just clean the corrosion off the harnesses instead of replacing them. I argued that that was not acceptable to no avail. It went out again. They had it since 12/15/03 and it's still not fixed. That was the straw that broke the camels back. DC has agreed to replace the car. I should get the new one in a couple more days. Worst part about this is that the surging almost got me in a bad accident when it died on me while I merging into traffic.
