This sounds like a feed back.

If you look up the wiring diagram for your PT, can like run down the issue. Chances are that there is a short or closed switch somewhere that shouldn't be. Since the dome like is time-controlled by the BCM, it still goes off until it gets a back-fed ground signal through the visor lights.

Again, this is just what I suspect. But if me, I'd pull that wiring diagram and look for a common connection and a possible place for a back feed. Based on the diagram below, I'd start by checking the center roof dome light bulb if you PT has one. If the element is shorted (or if the switch is "On" on the dome light itself), you might get what you are seeing.
