ooked extremely rocky for the Eagle Green that day
The Birds were down by three with but four minutes
left to play

Then when Ahman ran for 6 yards and the birds’ season
on the brink,
A bout of tension fell upon the faithful at the Linc

Favre then ran for three more yards and brought on 4th
and 1
The Packers had three options: to pass, to punt, or
run

The time had come for one big choice but Mike Sherman
came up small,
Instead of running down our throats he chose to punt
the ball.

There was ease in Donovan’s manner as he trotted on
the field
The expression on his face displayed a will that would
not yield

But the 1st down pass could not be caught and on 2nd
he was sacked,
And just like that it was 3rd and long and McNabb had
just been whacked

The 3rd down pass was meant for Chad but it sailed
above his head,
“Throw the flag” the fans did yell, “Incomplete” the
referee said

“Kill Him - Kill the Ref” the fans began to scream,
And it’s likely they’d have killed him had not a
policeman intervened

Unlikely as it was they knew they had to move the
sticks,
But their fate seemed sealed as they approached 4th
and 26

And now the pigskin covered ball came spiraling
through the air
And all the fans could do was stand and gaze in hope
and prayer

“There’s just no way that we can win” a saddened fan
did cry,
But the man who’s number 84 just would not be denied

With three defenders surrounding him and this
seemingly the end,
There stood Freddie, ball in hand, and the Eagles:
1st and 10

McNabb stood up and marched his troops, but they were
running out of time…
Still clinging to the hope that Akers would have his
chance to shine

Then on 4th down a sound was heard; a loud and mighty
whack,
And there was no doubt with Mighty Akers standing 8
yards back

And Akers did not disappoint, the ball was straight
and true,
And heading into overtime, Green Bay had not a clue.

It was time for the Eagles D to once again make a
stand,
And did they ever as the ball flew from Brett Favre’s
hand

No help from up above this time, as Dawkins caught the
ball,
He returned it 30 yards down field, and once again
Akers got the call

And now they line up for the kick, and now Bartrum
lets it go…
And now the air is shattered by the force of David’s
blow…

Oh somewhere out in Packer land the sun is shining
bright,
Somewhere the fans are drinking in the home where
beers are light,
“There’s always next year” they all shout as all the
losers should,
While we prepare for Houston; Mighty Akers’ kick was
GOOD.
