Have you tried running codes? Checked for vacuum leaks? Exhuast should not cause hard starting unless the system has some sort of obstruction (you didn't leave a shop rag in there did you?). You may loose just a little bottom end but you would not really notice it. It might show up on a dyno run as a loss of a little power down low but the Seat-of-the-pants dyno would not really feel it a bunch. I don't like to bog my engine down low anyhow.
