I believe 3Bar mentioned he was running a 2 1/4 race pipe.
Who are all these vendors? Exhaust depot asked what we would like and never heard from him again and I don't remember any negative responses. Now we have Scottmech, who may actually offer us a quality piece. So I count 2-1=1.
I contacted every down pipe producer and not one would make a down pipe for the GT which would consist of extending the SRT 2 1/4" portion about 6" man that would be a manufacturing nightmare, real tough.
Which brings up another problem why do they neck their down pipes to 2 1/4 when everybody seems to want 2.5 or 3"?
The problem for the PT with the SRT down pipes is that they are all too short and the problem with the 2.5" exhausts is that they all adapt to the 2 1/4 stock CAT so we are left with a gap of more than 6"(more like 10") if you adapt 2.5" exhaust to the SRT down pipe(s) cutting off the 2 1/4" section.
Scottmech is now going to produce a down pipe for the PT great, hopefully you will be abe to install it directly to the stock exhaust or directly to a 2.5" exhaust.
The biggest flow problem with our cruisers is the CAT so that is my first priority and then MoPar tells us we need a 2.5" for stage II but when I examine the MoPar 2.5" CAT back it is NOT a true 2.5" exhaust system so I ask myself........ My original question which is the topic of this thread.
So this is what I am going to do, Install a 3" down pipe to the stock exhaust reinstall my btg axle back and let her rip. Besides with the smaller pipe you keep the heat in the exhaust(hot molecules move faster)aiding in getting the exhaust out faster anyway.
Did anything I just wrote make sense or matter, I doubt it! [:0]
