Here is the path:
Airbox ---> Turbo (boosts air pressure, temp rises) ---> Intercooler (temp drop) --> Throttle Body (give me fuel / give me fire / give me that which I desire) --> Intake manifold --> Cylinder (kaboom)
I am thinking a heat shield between the head cover and the intake manifold may help. Anyone with thermometers wanna test that?
