I contacted Chrysler directly...they called me at home and told me to call the dealer for service...I take it in next Tuesday...suspect that at best they will replace the Instrument Cluster...(they have done that on other peoples cars) - the problem almost surely will not be fixed...I told them ALL of this in my two letters...I even gave them the website on this forum where the other reports of this problem...I was given their 800 number in case I was not satisfied...the number is 1-800-992-1997 - you can tell them that car VIN 3CFY48B43T594227 has the same problem that yours has and that they were notified by the owner in writing...owners name Robert Wilbarg....I encourage anyone with this probelm to contact Crysler and DEMAND they get it fixed...
The dealer kept the car overnight...no fault codes...had printed the info from this forum and the PT Cruiser Forum and gave it to the service people...they took the battery ground and scraped the paint away - made it a good ground - got the car back this afternoon...THE TRIP ODOMETER HAD NOT RESET EVEN WHEN THEY TOOK THE BATTERY GROUND OFF .... but it did reset tonight when my wife took the car to Yoga class....will repeat disconnecting the ground wire tomorrow - the trip odometer didn't reset and the radio buttons didn't reset ...... tomorrow I call Chrysler - see where we go from here .... if it checks out that they had disconnected the ground wire from the battery to clean the contact area....then that ain't the problem....will keep everyone informed.
