I lowered the rear on mine only, too, because the front already scrapes sometimes! It reduced the rear wheel well gap, made the car level rather than "butt in the air", improved handling and did not hurt the ride. I went 1.5 or 2" (I forget) and did NOT trim the bump stops, have no regrets. MUCH easier to do than the fronts.
