Winter Washing
Most people don't have the luxury of having a heated garage with good lighting and drains so special attention must be given to washing your car in sub zero temps. Here are options for you. Go to an indoor hand car wash if possible. If you plan on washing yourself, go to a self serve power wash. If is best if you can wait till the temp get above 32*, but if you are annoyed how your car looks, this is a temporary fix. Take some masking tape and tape the door locks to prevent water from entering them, most self serves have soap and rinse settings. use the soap setting for about 30 seconds and just put a quick layer of soap on the car, switch to rinse and start rinsing the car from the top down. get inside wheel wells and under fenders as best as possible. AVOID DRYING THE CAR/ Reason is you will rub dirt into the finish and scratch it or introduce swirls. You can however wipe down the glass and door jams. Just drive the car as soon as you are done washing, let the wind blow the water off. It may not look perfect, and you will at least get rid of most of the contaminants and will be able to buy time till the weather gets suitable to pay more attention to it. Those that live in the sun belt across the region, we envy you. I HATE THE COLD!!!!!!!! GARY
