What your PT is doing is going into Limp Mode allowing you to drive it to a dealer/service station using only first and second gear. It may be the solenoid pack and /or TCM (Transmission Control Module)
We ordered our PT in March, 2002 and at that time Chrysler had an incentive going, 7/70,000 Power Train warranty and one of our concerns was would we get the 7/70 even tho we ordered the PT and it may not be delivered before the incentive ran out. We were assured we would and by the time we took delivery in May, the 7/70 Drive Train warranty was no longer an incentive program but was standard on all new Chrysler vehicles. The only way I would say you are not covered is if you purchased your PT in late 2001 before the 7/70 incentive program.
