Well, my personal favorite had been Zaino. I know Gary has some points of discussion on this product, which he and I discussed on the phone recently. I ordered some microfiber towels from him and he threw in a bottle of his sealer for me to try.

Like I said, I really liked Zaino. I felt it applied and wiped off easier than anything I'd ever used in the past. More importantly, it shined like nothing I'd ever used as well! Only down side....it COST like nothing I'd ever used in the past! Hey, I figured you get what you pay for, right? Apparently I had just never spent quite enough.

Well, the car needed a bath over the weekend so it got one. Decided to try out the stuff Gary sent me to see how it compared to Zaino. Let me say again that Zaino, a synthetic, has given me the shiniest shine I'd ever personally put on a car. It went on super easy and came off super easy as well.

So, how did Gary's stuff, also a synthetic, compare? Well, at first I didn't think it was applying all that well, but it turned out to be more an issue of "loading" up the applicator before I could get a nice even application. It dries to a much more noticeable haze than Zaino and it seemed to dry a bit quicker as well. It came off pretty easily too. I think the Zaino actually came off a bit easier, but marginally so. Still, Gary's product came off easier than any other commonly available junk I've ever tried.

But man, when it came off, did it ever freakin' shine! I tell ya, shine is almost the wrong word.....the car almost looked like it was covered in wet paint! I was amazed, honestly amazed. I had thought Zaino was a quantum leap beyond anything I'd used before and if Gary's sealer was going to be an improvement it would be pretty minimal. But there it was, staring me right in the kisser (with me staring right back at me!)

But here's the real kicker - Zaino will run you about $33 for the ZX Flash Cure Accelerator and the Z-2 Polish (8 oz. bottle) combo. You then need to mix the two, which isn't really that big a deal I suppose. Gary's stuff is $10 for the same 8 oz. bottle. One thing I like about Gary too, after having talked to him on the phone, is that he seems like a very straight up guy. We talked about Zaino's claim that "layering" their sealer will give a deeper and deeper shine. Gary believes that is basically a marketing technique to sell more product. He could easily say "hey, layer it man, that's the way to go for the best shine" and sell more product, but he doesn't. I put three coats of Zaino on my car and it didn't shine like a single coat of Gary's.

Let me throw in a bit of a disclaimer here: I have no allegiance to Gary whatsoever. It's my car, my time, and my money when it comes to taking care of it. I really, really liked Zaino a lot and told all my car buds about it - said sure, it's pricey, but it's worth it. I tend to be pretty brand loyal; when I find something I like I tend to stay with it. I like to think I'm open minded though and will listen to someone who sounds reasonably intelligent. I also do research and talk to others (which is how I decided on Zaino in the first place) before I lay out my hard earned $$$.

Looking at my car now I can't imagine putting anything else on it.
