I have the same car as yours, 2003 DC 2, autostick. I have an aftermarket shifter from BilletPT.com that is really nice. No button, just push down and shift. Talk to Mike Creevan at BilletPT.com about it. He made two different ones for me to choose from to match my tangerine PT, so unless he sold the other one, he should have one in stock for you.
