The large white silencer ring is inside the airbox, just below the air filter. You can't miss it when you remove the air filter. It is easy to remove. I found it easier it you remove the air box first.

There are two other silencers. One in the snorkel between the air box and the fender and one in the turbo to air box pipe. There are several choices in replacement pipes from the turbo to the air box that eliminate the silencer. I have not seen a replacement for the one in the snorkel but several of us have disassembled it and covered the air holes with electrical/duct tape and put it back on. Some have shortened the tube inside the air box. To the best of my knowledge, no one has dynoed the car to see if it makes much difference other than noise.
