SteelblueGT, The battery is 1.2 inches longer and 2 inches more narrow. One of the reasons that I chose the 51R was the position of the posts on the battery. When the optima is located forward in the battery holder, the post positioning was very close to that of the stock Battery. That made using the original cables a no brainer. Just some slight repositioning of the angle on the clamps. Notching out the sheet metal was a bitch. I had to use a compressor driven cut off wheel and grinder.
