The decision to go with the synthetic is a good decision. But, you will also have other decisions to consider with this and future oil changes...many of which have already been discussed.

1) Oil Filters...for every person on this forum you might get differing opinions. If you are going to be spending $20.00 for oil, do not scrimp on the filter. Investigate which filter is going to be good for your application and driving conditions.

2) Oil Change schedule...this one has been heavily discussed. Do a search for the topic. Opinions by everyone are important, but you have to be the one to make the decision as to what works for you, your car, the driving conditions, finances, etc. Many people, me included, maintain the standard oil change schedule.
