Question New Tires...What to pick??

Hi There,

I am new to this forum and I am looking for some help choosing new All Season tires for my 2001 LTD. I don't know alot about tires and I am finding it all a bit confusing and being a woman doesn't help.
What do you fellow Canadians think is the best tire to get ??

Thanks Harnesshorse

I'm sure that you will get many suggestions, but personally I like and in no particular order, BF Goodrich, Goodyear or Michelin but I've heard good things about Costco's tires...who knew. Just make sure you stay with the same size.

Thank you
I was thinking I would go with the BF Goodrich Traction T/A and after a lot of pricing (I am getting them from Sam's Club as they are the cheapest. I don't have a membership to Costco so I don't know how theirs prices compare. I can't believe there is such a price difference for the same tire depending on where I call some times as much as $200 more for the 4 tires installed.

After reading several replies, I would stay away from Goodyear tires. I am considering putting on winter tires and need some advice. Any suggestions?

I LOVE my Michelin Hyroedge tires. Have 40,000 + miles on them and going strong. The fronts a showing some wear, but the Good-for-a-years were shot at 40,000, and were terrible in rain or snow, and not that great in the dry.
I've lowered the rear, added a rear sway bar, but switching the tires made an even bigger improvement.
Only drawback - Michelin doesn't make them in 17" - I have 16".

And the Good-for-a-years were more expensive than the Michelins

There's a guy in Winnipeg selling some winter tires if you're interested. Here's his email. I haven't seen them or know anything more about them. I don't do enough driving in the winter to make it worthwhile

I, had an '03 PT GT turbo until this summer and traded it in on my wife's new car. Still have 4 Cdn Tire winter tires (on rims) in the garage. They are Nordic Icetrac, P195/65R15 and have 8299 klics, original invoice and fall and spring invoices are available for inspection. Selling for $350 which is less than half the replacement value.
