I have a 2004 PT cruiser and wondered if anyone else with the same year has problems with their gas mileage
I barely go a total of about 400 kms a tank in the city before I have to fill it up again. Is there a problem with mine or is that normal. |

The same goes for mine also....lows of 20 and high of 35
![]() I should say I use to get that as I just sold mine on Monday ![]() |

Discussed quite extensively under the General PT Cruiser Discussions:
YES! Another gas mileage rant!

I have a 2001 with manual tranny. The only upgrade I have is the Air raid intake and fully synthetic oil. I keep the revs below 3000 when ever possible and I get over 500 liters per tank. I average the 10 liters per 100 km which should convert to around 30 mpg.

well over this last xmas holiday i took my pt on a 2400km road trip to manitoba and back to alberta and i just averaged my fuel consumtion over the hole trip since some tanks i kept it at 110k and some tanks averaged 130kph hehe anyways noticed a big difference in the fuel usage but over all the car did 8.75L per 100 km and the window sticker says the car is rated at 8.6 so i am very happy with my pt since none of the time on the highway was i doing less then 110
going to be making the same trip again in the spring so we will see how the warmer weather effects the mileage. |

400kms on a tank with city driving would be doing good for me! I normally get about 450km/tank with mostly highway. My worst tank was 17mpg, that was city driving in a cold snap -38*C! The best way 39.7mpg, that was on a road trip through western Ontario, driving their nasty 90km/h speed limit. I had 630km on the tank and the low fuel light just flicked on when I drove into the station.
I'm wanting to check out head porting to see if I can pick up some mileage. If you make an engine more efficient it uses less fuel. There's a guy @ turbododge.com by the name of mpgmike that does some interesting head work. Ben
