$10,000.!!! that a whole lot more than the taxes and the $5,000. rebate!!
I'd sure like to know what that rebate was all about!!

I think the cost (before taxes) was $9,250 below sticker price. I had been looking at a used 2003 Cruiser with around 25,000 kms on it when the saleman pointed out he had a brand new 2003 for only $2000 more. He did explain the price breakdown for me, but I was more interested in the end price than the reasons for it.

Hey Lucretia,

I was thinking about your deal. I think I know how you got it now.
My parents a few years ago were going to buy a GMC Envoy (first model year of the new ones)...when it came down to negotiation, the general manager offered us one off the lot. However, it was the one he was driving. By definition, this is *not* a new car in actuality. The deal sounded great, however, under these conditions, one of the taxes is not applied but the total he offered would have only saved about 5k off the sticker. When I realized what he did, we took the new vehicle (although this one only had around 1000km).
Perhaps this is not what happened to you, but I can guarantee if the car was actually totally new, the dealership lost a few thousand dollars with you.

Cheers,
LIP

Hmmm, I don't think it's quite the same - - mine only had about 35km on it when I test drove it. One thing the saleman said was along the lines of it being from their sister store in town where they hadn't been able to move it or about a half dozen other Cruisers. Once I heard about the fuel line recall, I wondered if they were just anxious to get rid of them before that news broke. The saleman said I was getting a very good deal - - maybe a car saleman was telling the truth for once

CORRECTION:

Sorry, just looked at my invoice and wanted to clarify a few things. My price was $8600 below sticker price. That doesn't take into account freight ($845) that was added on to the price as well as the taxes. The $8600 is just listed as a dealer discount.

Hope I didn't mislead anyone.[:I]
