Default Ground, swivel top plug socket

I put in Champion iridium plugs in a while ago - time to change them again - problem is, daughter lost my swivel-top plug socket that I had ground down.
The Champion plugs are like the early NGK iridiums in that the "nut" part sits down in the plug well and needs a very thin socket wall.

New or used is fine.

Last time I got a regular socket with swivel top, and ground, tried it out, ground some more, etc.... Now I'm lazy....

The Swivel top is so I can do the plugs without taking the intake manifold off - I think clicking a swivel into a regular socket might make it too tall and hit the manifold...

Question Re: Ground, swivel top plug socket

I guess trying to find (or remember) where the 'lost' one went, isn't a viable option anymore?

I just googled 'swivel top spark plug sockets' and got maybe a hundred pics to choose from.

It looks like, from a cursory glance, Sears and Walmart both might have something similar to the one you have lost, but as I said, there are bunches of brand names and sources to choose from.

Those would be the starting point - then need to hit grinder - they won't fit as is - I was hoping to find one already ground - they used to sell them when you bought the early NGK iridiums that had the low "nut" also... but I don't find them now...

I got the impression that you were looking for a socket with a short swivel assembly on top that you could then modify (grind down).

You won't find the modified NGK socket today because the only plug that NGK made for the PT back then had the low engagement point. They quickly came out with a 'normally' configured sparkplug for us and no longer needed the modified plug socket that they had offered for the early plugs. The sockets they offered were normal sockets that they had literally modified on a lathe to fit our PTs.

You can find thin walled motorcycle sockets for 5/8" (16mm) plugs but I'm not sure if they will need further grinding. They will need a separate swivel on top.

MANY years ago I had to grind my 5/8" socket for the plugs that I use on my PT. Not NGK.

I wonder if you bought the correct plugs-
The shorter 2000 and older plugs required me to grind a socket when (erroneously) put in the PT head ...
The original equipment Champions don't require the 'customized' socket, so it leads me to question why your Champions would, if you follow my logic.

I've run across wrong plugs in the PT quite a bit, so there'd be no surprise whatsoever if that were the case.

They are Champion IRIDIUM plugs.

I was hoping to find someone who has a ground swivel socket that they no longer need or where to get one - if not, I'll grind another one myself.....
