I think I just had an idea. I would swap the guys from my pre-programmed key to my non-programmed key (the one w/ ignition) and the new fob would then be programmed just like the fact of one... Am i a dumb person or a smart person for thinking this?

Just figured its be nice to heve a spare. If I do need to, I can just swap the "guts" from the remote and program the new chip. Would this work? Oh I just had an idea. I could use my old chip key that's Already programmed to the car in the new key to the ignition!
What are you after? A third key? A third fob? A new ignition switch?

A spare ignition/key because mine sometimes (rarely) doesn't start but if you push the key in, sure enough, starts with no problem. Dealer said that I might look for a new one just in case.

Having to push in on key usually means the ignition switch is on it's way out...
You have 2 keys, so if both do it it clearly isn't the key...

Swapping the guts will move the fob but not the key recognition. Some of the ignition switches have tumblers that you set up to match your key. So you dont have to replace you key.

On the G2's the key does push the switch in a little, not sure about the G1's.
