I got my AutoMeter Phantom series Boost, Volt & A/F gauges from Summit Racing. The triple pod is in, boost guage up and running but been to cold to hook up the others. I read that the A/F gauge may not work on the GT because of the voltages needed. I may replace it with a EGT gauge instead. If I read correctly, the A/F gets it's readings from the o2 sensor and determines if the AIR & FUEL is being mixed correctly for the best/proper combustion. The Exhaust Gas Temp. gauge has a probe that needs to be installed in the exhaust manifold. It reads the EGT to determine if the AIR & FUEL is being mixed/burned correctly. I hope someone with way more knowledge of this can correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks Kevin & Donna's Elec Blue GT http://www.dreamcruisers.org/index/Page_1x.html |

You are correct on both counts. The A/F ratio gauge will not work on the GT without installing a second 02 sensor bung and 02 sensor. They do have a kit for that, BTW. The EGT works as you describe.

DC's O2 sensor is an on/off reading that tells rich/lean but not good for gauge scale. An EGT just tells you if your foot is in it or not. The only use for EGT is if you have one on each manifold branch and it shows which cylinders are working the hardest (hottest). I've only seen these on very large diesels (278ci per cyl) where you tune each cyl individually. A CO gauge will give you a good mixture reading and an HC gauge will show ign performance.
