Default WTB complete lower mileage engine for a 2001 Cruiser.

Looking for a complete engine for my 2001 PT. I prefer something with lower mileage. I need a standard 2.4 w EGR in the head. Let me know what you have.

Thanks Jason

Any 2.4 out of a 2001 - 2002 PT / 4 Door Stratus / 4 Door Sebring will work. The Stratus / Sebring engine would require all of your brackets, plus your oil pump and pan. But they're the same block. (None of the 2 door cars.)

I put an engine out of an '02 stratus in my '01.

There are plenty up my way.

Gary,
Are the heads the same? I have an EGR engine in mine.

'02 & up only fit- '02 & up.

'01 fits '95-'10 (change manifolds or drill)
'95-'99 fit '95-'01 (Again, manifolds in '01 are diff.

There were air (CA Emissions) in later heads, EGR may be drilled if needed,
blocked if not.

Do you need an '01 head????
I know who might have one ...

I may need the 01 head. How much do you want for it shipped?
This engine had about 126k on it and was overheated pretty bad and literally had coolant in the throttle body when I took the air cleaner assembly off of it. Its turning over with no compression like the timing belt broke...The belt had been replaced at 96k according to a label on the timing cover. So until I get it apart I wont know what happened.
If I can rebuild it I will just have the block gone over and rebored and put a new head on it. I just thought a used engine would be the way to go but they really do want way to much money for one with 100k on it already.

Yikes!

I'm not sure you couldn't use an old Stratus block, PLENTY around!!!
I'd strongly advise against getting a 'rebuild.' These are horrible, much
rather have a JY engine! They used the cheapest rings a Chinaman can saw
off some old water pipe- Spent my time in a custom machine shop- not
building trick drag motors, but fixing remans, and not one some guy did in
his backyard.

You can do a lot with a so-so bottom end, lots of times guys'll 'unstick'
piston rings and send it back out. If that much coolant went into cylinders,
you'll need to have rods checked for straightness. Because it happened
at it's final run, the old giveaway of diagonal scoring wouldn't be present.

Head, on the other hand ...
You can get them straightened, I get concerns about seats dropping when metal's
become extremely hot.

I need time to check mine out- this'll give you some time to verify what you need.
I don't sell junk, I let you know exactly what i find with it.

Found a complete 02 Cruiser engine with 53k on it for $1000. Now comes the fun part.

I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure my 2.4 was out of an '02 Stratus. I do know I used the head that was on it...
