Smile WTB: Aluminum Flywheel and New Clutch

If anyone has one, the other or both. I know a lot of members have new extra parts laying around to sell. I recently bought a cargo net, mudflaps, lowering springs and a mopar subwoofer from members here last month, all ship to my Sumas Washington mailbox and I will send payment with paypal. Time is of the essence, my clutch is starting to slip so if you know of your friends can ask them too if they want to sell.

Market new prices;
Exedy clutches are going for CAD$351.39
The sachs flywheel is CAD$508.54
Fidanza aluminum flywheel C $452.08

If I don't find anything within 7 days I think I'll have to just buy from the local shops here

If you look closely at the picture of the Exedy clutch on Rockauto, it is simply a Sachs clutch and pressure plate. The only thing that is Exedy is the tube of lube. They are simply re-boxing the Sachs and selling it for a premium.

I don't believe Fidanza actually makes a dual mass flywheel for the Turbo PT. I had a quick look in the Fidanza catalog and I didn't see it listed. The stock flywheel is a Sachs Dual Mass type. I think the only way you might be able to use one of the Fidanza is if you used the conversion clutch to eliminate the dual mass setup and use a standard clutch and flywheel.

Too bad it isn't the Non turbo pt. I have a modular aluminum flywheel and clutch for one.

PT cruiser + light flywheel = hate life!

Might as well ride the brakes off the line.

I wanted to say it but you are way more qualified to say it. That's were your torque is at. Well basically speaking.

No I meant brakes. Using a lighter flywheel with a heavy car you lose the engine inertia/ reciprocating engine assembly momentum and off the line performance is like riding the brake pedal which translates to a slow launch. Or the engine falling off the torque.

It is a novice thought that using a light or very flywheel helps in all applications.

When I use to build Performance engine in my shop for customers I would rarely advise the use of aluminum flywheels. Aside from what I mention earlier they also contribute to main cap failure in some V-8 applications. But that is another subject engine type and forum.

So I'm pretty sure after looking into this some more, there is not aluminum flywheel for the turbo transmission and no conversion for the dual-mass flywheel. i plan to get the surface machined and possibly lightened too. i'll put the order in for a sachs kit from a local parts supplier.

On Rockauto you can see that there is a conversion clutch available. One member here uses one. I think it failed at least once on him, but I am not sure of the details, or if the replacement is still working nicely or not.

I had my dual mass flywheel resurfaced at Ottawa Clutch, and it was about $80 Canadian. The bearing is the thing that fails on the dual mass flywheel, so as long as yours doesn't have any side to side play then it will likely be fine. They could have resurfaced the pressure plate too for a few bucks more and re-line the disc, but since I had already scored a new Sachs clutch kit for fairly cheap on ebay, I didn't go this route.

i called a local shop and got an opinion. i'll bring in the old clutch assembly and see if it is worn or not, and can be resurfaced with a sachs clutch kit installed. if not, I have these two options for conversion kits:
More Information for AMS AUTOMOTIVE 05142
More Information for VALEO 52401406
