Default New Car Care

Just became the wonderful owner of a red Limited Cruiser. I have no garage to store it in and want to work to keep the bright red color last for years. I know that with regular washing and care it will last.

My questions are these:

Is it worth the effort to start it off with a clay bar treatment>

I plan on using a sealant to protect the finish along with wax; is this a good combination?

I mainly will drive the cruiser on the weekends so is it worth the effort to purchase a cloth cover for the car for the time it will be just sitting?

Thanks in advance for your efforts in answering and your knowledge you are passing on.

Chip

Hi Chip, I have the same color, nice choice. Yes, claying is an important step in the car care process. It will remove micro contaminants you can't see on your finish. do this simple test. after your car is washed and clean get a plastic sandwiche baggie. Put your hand in it and gently move it on your finish (don;t worry it won;t harm anything) if you feel a roughness through the plastic, for sure you need to clay. The plastic magnifies the senses in your skin so you can feel more of the actual finish. You also should get familiar with my web site and professional line of products. (www.perfectautofinish.com) many of the members here use them and rave about the performance. as a matter of fact,my cruiser came in as the top ten finalist at the 2004 Great America event, I believe not only due to my mods but my finish as well. after claying, use my deep cleaner and sealant, you will lock in the wet look and your car will be happy, so will you. Gary
