Default Clean-up over the holidays

Gary,

Just returned from a couple weeks in Virginia with my grandkids. While there, my sons in-laws showed up with their 2002 cruiser. Made me sick to look at it. Brake dust was baked on for probably a couple of years...in fact I think the only time the PT was washed is when it rained.

Gathered up as much cleaning materials as I could find...including steel wool pads and went to work. Had to scrub the heck out of the wheels (which didn't seem to hurt the chrome finish) and finally got it back in shape. Sad thing is, that's probably the last time it will see any soap unless I happen to run into them again.

P.S. The interior and engine compartment was more than I could muster..you can imagine what that was like. At least it looked good from the outside.

Mine wasn't quite as bad, but had gone a couple weeks and had salt from last snow... I had off yesterday, but it was raining, about 40 degrees F. I filled a bucket with Meguires car wash, took a long-handle soft brush, let the PT sit in the rain to get wet, then slopped & brushed the soap all over it - let the rain wash it off. Came out pretty good...

Don, I'll never be up to Gary's standards, but I do spend a lot of time on my two that I take to shows. Holds their own against the competition. [8D]

P.S. That's CREWZIN Don.

Carey,
CHROME wheels??? When I saw that first pic, I thought they were the silver painted wheels with a little dirt on them.
You need to take that boy aside and give him a good talkin' to!!!

Cleaning my chrome wheels on my 02 limited has always been a pain with brake dust and grime build up. I have tried wheel cleaner products but none compares with something my wife had in her kitchen cleaning arsenal, Kaboom. It has a funny name but it really works, it melts built up grime right off the wheels with the least amount of effort. I think she got it at Wall-Mart or Sams club, but it can be found elsewhere.

I think Kaboom is wal-marts answer to greaze lighting. Works great, just don't get it on aluminum (greaze lighting anyway). They have a orange citrus that I use to get the dog slobber off the panels, spray on wipe off.
