I've used the Mothers claybar but think its a little soft & sticky. Gary how does your bar compare to Mothers?

Big Jon,

The clay bar is supposed to be worked like silly putty until it's soft, spray lots of lubricant on the area your working with and every once in awhile, take the bar and fold it over and over again in your hands to get a nice clean area on the clay. Keep it well lubricated with the spray.

Gary. You can still answer the original question but here's some more. Does the clay wear out? How do you know when it wears out? Do you sell the clay itself or does it always come with the spray lubricant?

Thanx Crewzin, I've used the Mothers bar but I've heard it is one of the softer bars. In used plenty of soapy water & detail spray but would still get clay smears on the finish. The bar is used up when it is dark from contaminents or when it hits the ground. Usually the ground claims mine.

I'm not sure about other clay bars, the one I sell is synthetic clay, which is easier to work with, its the lates version of clay. Old technology is hard to work with especially if you you don't have experience working with it. Clay should be dumped when it has to many contaminants in it, you will know it becuase no matter how much you "NEED" it you can't get a fresh surface. as far as smearing, you do know you should wash again after claying, that is the exact reason why, to get the residue off the finish. I sell the lub (spray and shine) separately. hope that clarifies things up a little. Gary

Meguiars clay is aweful, they have not upgraded to poly clay yet, and if you are using clay for the first time, go with poly. Gary

To tell you the truth, after using Meguires, anything should win hands down. Meguires clay is garbage.
