Default Swirls at 800 miles???

I detailed a Gallardo yesterday (yes I got to drive it) it was black and the owner complained about how their were swirls in the paint already. After I asked him how he washed the car I could see how it happened. He washes using a sponge during the wash cycle (a no no) and uses a towel to dry (another no no) plus he never clayed. if people would just follow some basic simple procedures you can avoid headaches. if you have black even more caution should be taken. off topic, one thing I will say about driving this car, all of a sudden I become a great looking dude, chicks really noticed me, do you think it was my new hair style????? (LOL) for $185,000 the car handles horrible. Yes it is fast........(really fast) but shifting is like a mack truck and the suspension is tighter than ever. I guess if you can afford it, you can just throw it away and get something else........:yesnod:

Gary, one of life's certianties is that this site will have a picture of a car with a great detail job every couple weeks. Hopefully it will be an exotic that most of us don't see normally. Losing that will be a sign of the end of civilization...

OK Great Swami, grade me on how I'm doing...especially since I just bought the wife a black '03 base model to go with my '05 GT(coolvanilla).....
I use the self serve car wash
spray soap first.
pressure rinse the soap brush prior to using it.
stroke the soap on, not swirl it.
pressure wash using the wax cycle.
use the spot free rinse thoroughly.
drip dry,no towel,chamois.
wax with Meguiars Gold class spray wax.
Bon Ami spray glass cleaner, no amonia.
I have succumbed to ArmorAll on the vinyl surfaces and dash. It's just so shiny and we rednecks like shiny things....
Meguiars Leather wipes on the seats.
Spray tire cleaner on the tires, wheelwells.
Wipe wheels off immediatly.
This is done semi weekly. Smog dust being the biggest problem in Phoenix, we just got rain last week after 146 days...
So on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being just a terrific owner....how am I doing and what should I change?

Stay away from the CAR WASH ([xx(]), use a brand name car wash soap.

Many Car Washes use recycled water and who knows what you are washing your car with.
