Default bumper question

Hey fellow 2002 PT owners.
Anyone out there have a similar problem with tape marks on their front and rear non painted bumpers that left an imprint and faded the original grey color?
Anyone know of a less costly way to way to improve the appearance of the bumpers short of repainting or replacing them?
If you have I'd like to hear from you.
thanks..
PTjoe

Do a search on TAPE MARKS. There are quite a few topics on it.

Here's one: http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...s=t ape,marks

I had them on mine... but I also had a VERY good dealership. They repainted the bumpers for me no problem. Also replaced my peeling chrome wheels with Mopar ones. So check your wheels, too... lol!

The adhesive in the tape has reacted with the uv protectant in the bumper. The more exposure to sunlight, the lighter it becomes. Helps to understand why some are affected sooner than others.

Hopefully you have a dealership you can deal with, and will help you out. I really lucked out on my original dealership in Niagara Falls, NY... and found an awesome dealership here in Coon Rapids, MN.

Thanks, I've had my PT, a limited also with peeling chrome wheels for almost two years but lazy me never bothered to seek out the cause thinking just a wax type application would cure it.
I've also never seen or heard of chrome peeling off the wheels like this. Other than that the car has been trouble free...
Its now become more like a pet..not used as daily driver.
I suspect I'm in deep DO-DO now with the warranty gone.
How has your painted bumper held up with time?
The dealer wants $250 to paint both the front and back but since the original bumper was composite, never painted, I'm having second thoughts on doing it
Thanks
Joe

You can apply "back to Black" - a liquid at auto stores. Lasts a while, but marks will come back.
The Back to black is great on the mirrors, too.

Yea, I think its probably my only recourse.
I'm out of warranty so my dealer is asking $200 (says its a good price) to paint both bumpers as per Chryslers approved method of repairing it..
I'm wondering why you needed it done twice?
Joe

It bled thru the 2nd time also. They didn't paint it using DC's procedure.
